F.A.Q.

Why is your site called "Bizarro Inc."?

Bizarro is the imperfect and backwards clone of Superman in DC comics. One year for Custom Con we came up with the idea of "Bizarro Mattel," which was a fictional company that would operate in the opposite way as the real toy companies. In effect, as customizers we make the characters that the real companies pass on. Similarly it works with the fiction too, since those stories are of a like that could never be seen in the real media due to all sorts of legal razzmatazz. But since we didn't want to be associated too closely with an actual company we just called ourselves Bizarro Inc. and dropped the Mattel.

What's customizing?

Customizing is an obscure (but fun) hobby, whereby one can take an action figure, and alter it with sanding, sculpting, and paint to become an entirely new figure.

Why customize?

Toy companies rarely make the characters that collectors would love to see. The whole reason we started was because Tim always wanted a Shadowcat figure and there really wasn't any other way for him to get one. Through customizing, you can have a shot at making the figures you've always wanted to see and adding them to your collection. Plus, again, it's fun.

How does one start customizing?

Well, you'd probably want to start with a fairly simple project, like a repaint or a head swap of some kind. You'll want to get yourself some acrylic paint, X-acto knives (be careful!), super glue, a sculpting media (such as Sculpey), and some kind of sanding tool such a dremmel for more complicated projects. Beyond that use your imagination. Just about anything can be useful under the right circumstances. Finding good base figures can be tough and expensive, but if you wait for good deals (sales, and multipacks are useful) it's not really as bad as you'd think. If all else fails, check out Ebay. Finally, be patient. When we first started we weren't all that great, but with time got quite a bit better at it. Heck we've probably got a long way to go still. For more info on the practice of customizing, check out some of the other customizers in the links section.

Why is your site so big?

As it stands our site is optimized to be viewed at a 1024 by 768 screen resolution, so we apologize for those of you whose monitors are adjusted at a smaller setting. You can adjust it by right clicking on your desktop and selecting "properties."

Do you do commissions?

The short answer is "no." The reason is neither of us really has the time. Sorry.

Will you display my work on your site?

Unfortunately no. Again we don't really have the time. However, we'd be happy to check out your customs if you E-mail us a picture, and you can check out several websites where you can display both your custom figures and fan fiction through our links section.

Who are you guys/how can I contact you?

Why that's what the About Us section is for!
