The Grip of Fear

Scene: The “Autumn Shock Fall Fashion Show” New York City. Peter Parker AKA Spiderman is attending the fashion show that showcases his lovely wife Mary Jane. The Place is packed and full of reporters and beautiful models. Peter is approaching Mary Jane backstage.

Spider-Man: Hey there, pretty lady.

Mary Jane: Hey, Tiger!

They kiss.

You shouldn’t be back here. You should be out there with your camera ready to take snapshots of your gorgeous wife.

Spider-Man: You know there’s no place I’d rather be MJ… But I have to go.

Mary Jane: …Peter…

Spider-Man: I just can’t rest when he’s out there…

Holds up an issue of “The Daily Bugle.” The headline reads “Cassidy Escapes” with subtitle “13 More Found Massacred” and a picture of Carnage. A smaller headline is also in view that reads “Scarecrow sighted in New York.”

Mary Jane: I understand… I don’t like it… but I understand.

Spider-Man: I’m a lucky guy.

Mary Jane: Don’t you forget it.
Smiles and winks.
I gotta go.

She exits and Peter heads towards the door, but stops and turns around. Mary Jane is going down the runway. Peter watches her.

Announcer: Mary Jane is sporting a stunning new evening gown from our “Sensual Strangers” line. This dark shroud of enticing twilight was specially made to get the attention of that special secret someone from across the dance floor.

Behind him a shadowy figure in a hat and trench coat has entered. The figure gives an evil snicker. Peter’s spider sense goes off and we see half of his face in the Spidey mask. He turns around but before he notices the figure the lights in the theatre go out. Everyone is surprised including the shadowy figure.

Announcer: Everybody please remain in your seats it appears we’re experiencing some kind of power shortage.

A maniacal laugh is heard resonating throughout the theatre.

Scarecrow: Ladies and Gentlemen. Disregard the voice of reason and surrender yourselves to the grip of terror!
A single red light appears in the center of the stage. Mary Jane moves to the side. The shadowy figure looks intrigued. Spider-Man hits his JL distress signal from in his pocket. The Scarecrow rises up from a trapdoor center stage bathed in the red light.

From this point on you are in the hands of the Scarecrow!

Peter jumps up into the rafters and leaps behind a few girders emerging as Spider-Man. He’s about to web Scarecrow when suddenly the shadowy figure bursts into psychotic laughter from behind by the entrance. He slashes through the trench coat revealing himself to be Carnage. The congregation turns to see Carnage and the state of panic and chaos doubles. Pan into Carnage laughing and forming sharp blades out of his hands.

(OPENING THEME)

Carnage is still laughing psychotically and he rears back to leap into the crowd but Spider-Man swings into him just in the nick of time. The two erupt into intense battle, neither one able to land a solid attack on the other. Screams of terror are coming from the crowd.

Scarecrow: Fascinating!

He takes in the terror of the people with extreme satisfaction.

Carnage: Glad to see you Spider-Man! And here I though I was going to slaughter a bunch of mindless sheep! Well, hot sexy sensual sheep at least! But you’re the icing on the cake!
Spider-Man: You’re sick, Cassidy! This ends now!
Carnage: But that’s not all! That’s not all! Quite a coincidink that guy would be here too! I’d hate for him to massacre my meat! That’s why I’m going to kill you nice and quick! But painfully! Don’t worry it’ll be REALLY painful!!!

Scarecrow: That’s right! Panic! There’s no way out! Your fates are sealed! Who would have thought I’d stumble upon such pure natural terror! I wonder how much more intense it can get!
Presses a button on his remote control. Fear Toxin begins to seep through the vents under the stage. Scarecrow starts to laugh again.

You think you‘re scared now do you?! Wait until you feel the effects of my fear toxin!
Green Lantern breaks open the roof.
Green Lantern: Not on my watch, Scarecrow!

Creates a giant suction fan that draws all of the fear gas out into the sky.

Scarecrow: No! The measurements would have been unprecedented!

Green Lantern: Well now you’ll just have to lay awake at night wondering, huh?

Scarecrow: No! It was such a splendid twist of fate! A crowd of horrified test subjects, suddenly hurled past the boundaries of human fear itself!

Green Lantern: Easy come, easy go. Fate’s a weird thing, Scarecrow. Take it from me and this ring.

He creates a green punching glove that knocks Scarecrow against the wall. Scarecrow is stunned but not unconscious.

The vast majority of the innocent bystanders begin to file out the emergency exits and stage exits. Mary Jane runs up to GL.

Green Lantern: Hey don’t mention it, gorgeous. Helping out is all in a days wo--

Mary Jane: Help him!
Points to Spider-Man who is still in the heat of battle with Carnage.

Green Lantern: Woah!
Encases Carnage in a force Bubble.

Didn’t even see that one.

Mary Jane: Maybe you should be more careful!

Spider-Man: Thanks, GL. Better late than never.

Mary Jane looks relieved. Meanwhile carnage stares strangely at GL from within the bubble.

Green Lantern: No problem, Webs. Glad I was close.

Scarecrow sits up and groans, but everybody else is too focused on Carnage and Green Lantern to notice.

Spider-man: Me too.

Scarecrow pulls out gas gun from within his trench coat and lands a shot on Green Lanterns. Kyle begins to cough and gag then goes into convulsions and loses concentration.

Spider-Man: Lantern!

The force bubble dissipates and carnage cries out in pain.

Spider-Man: Now what?!

The Carnage Symbiote slips off of Cletus Cassidy. Spiderman tries to web it in place but it maneuvers around his web, past him and lands on Green Lantern.
Kyle screams in agony and terror as the Symbiote bonds with him. Spider-man grabs Mary Jane and swings out of the way. Carnage-Lantern begins to glow green and then shoots off through the roof into the night sky, Laughing Carnage’s psychotic laugh all the while. Scarecrow slips away in the confusion. Carnage-Lantern’s glow starts to light up the entire city and his laughter is heard clearly for miles. Numerous New Yorkers look up in terror at him.

Cuts back to Spider-man.

Spider-Man: This is beyond bad.

Scene: Several Hours later. A news broadcast.

Snapper Carr: We interrupt this program with a breaking development on the disaster in New York. As you’ve probably heard, several hours ago the Green Lantern went Rogue in New York City, casting the entire city into a panic. A mass evacuation is underway orchestrated by the U.S. armed forces and the Justice League has recently arrived on the scene. As of now there is no word on the Lantern’s motivation, but he is being considered highly psychotic and extremely dangerous. The very presence of his teammates indicates a potentially global threat. We go live to correspondent Trish Tilby. Trish what can you tell us?

Trish Tilby: As of now the army isn’t letting us near the sector of the city occupied by Green Lantern and the Justice League. But citizens are terrified to say the least. The evacuation has been slow moving at best due to massive panic and--

Soldiers behind Trish begin yelling and signaling.

Snapper Carr: Trish! What’s going on there!

Trish Tilby: Something’s coming this wa--

The connection is lost.

Snapper Carr: Trish!

Cuts to New York. Superman has been hurled into the ground and smashed the Camera. He gets back up and flies back in the direction of Carnage-Lantern.

Back in the heat of the battle many citizens are still present, panicking. Carnage-Lantern is hurling massive spikes down at them. Marvel Girl and Rogue dash out into the crowds at super speed narrowly saving people from certain death.

Carnage-Lantern: KILL! KILL! KILL! DIE! DIE! DIE!
Laughs psychotically. Suddenly Carnage-Lantern is blasted severely by an onslaught of missiles. The Bat-Plane has arrived on the scene. Carnage-Lantern creates a series of Buzz Saw constructs that slice the Bat-Plane in 8 or 9 different ways. Batman just narrowly ejects. A final Buzz Saw goes for Batman but Iceman dives in on an ice-slide and gets him out of harms way.

Iceman: Nice effort, Bats, but I think it’s going to take more than a few missiles to take Kyle down.

Batman: What happened here?

Iceman: Good question. Spidey’s the one who called us here. All we know so far is that that’s not Kyle. Not exactly.

A green spike shatters Iceman’s slide. They fall for a while but then are caught by two web lines.

Spider-Man: It’s Carnage!

Iceman: The serial killer with the alien symbiote?

Spidey hoists them up onto a rooftop.

Spider-Man: No. Just the symbiote. He bonded with Green Lantern. He’s taken control of his mind and body.

Batman: How do we get it off of him?

Spider-Man: Sonics and Intense heat have always been the best ways before, but now that he has that ring to protect him… I don’t know.

Carnage-Lantern fires a blast at the rooftop blowing it apart. The three heroes just barely escape the blast.

Batman: Cletus Kassidy was a killer even before he merged with the Symbiote, correct?

Spider-Man: Yeah. That’s what made the combination of the two so dangerous.

Batman: Then wouldn’t Kyle’s personality have some kind of influence?

Spider-Man: He should be able to fight off the Symbiote’s control… but he’ll need help.

Carnage-Lantern creates a gigantic Green Carnage construct that attempts to swallow the three of them, but Rogue and Superman deliver a serious blow to Carnage-Lantern which lapses his concentration and causes the construct to vanish.

Batman, Spidey, and Iceman land on the ground safely. Marvel Girl dashes up to them.

Batman: Marvel Girl, can you reach Green Lantern telepathically?

Marvel Girl: I can try.

Marvel Girl begins to probe Green Lantern’s mind. The scene changes to Carnage-Lantern’s psyche. Everything is dark. Kyle Rayner is sitting in a secluded corner trembling.

Marvel Girl: Lantern?

Green Lantern: V-Valeria?

Marvel Girl: Kyle… what’s wrong with you? Fight this. You can’t let Carnage control you.

Green Lantern: N-no. I c-can’t. It’s… AHHH!

Red symbiote starts creeping up everywhere and begins to cover Kyle. The symbiote snakes over his entire body and then forms into a Carnage-like form above him. Kyle’s body is left shredded and bloody, and the Symbiote gives a menacing laugh then glows green until Marvel Girl is overtaken by the glow.

Cuts back to reality. Marvel Girl screams and is shaken back into consciousness.

Batman: What happened?

Marvel Girl: Something’s wrong with him… it goes beyond the symbiote. He wasn’t himself at all… he… was so scarred.

Spider-Man: Of course. The Scarecrow!

Batman: Scarecrow?

Spider-Man: Yeah that nut from Gotham! He gassed Kyle before all this happened! The serum is probably making his psyche submissive to the symbiote!

Batman: It’s possible. I know Jonathon Crane. He’s an expert chemist and a master of fear psychology. His fear toxin comes in a variety of different forms. Sometimes it can be overcome by sheer willpower, other times it requires a specific anti-toxin as well, and sometimes… it just has to run its course.

Carnage-Lantern creates a giant evil green shark that comes up from the ground beneath them. They all scatter. Spiderman swings back next to Batman.

Spider-Man: We have to figure out how to help Kyle fight the toxin’s influence any way we can.

Batman: We’ll need to find the Scarecrow, and fast.
Spider-Man: He’s gotta be miles away by now.

Batman: I doubt it. Look.

Nods in the direction of the panicking crowds.

With fear on this scale he’s bound to be close by enjoying it. It’s either find him or try to get a sample of Kyle’s blood.

Carnage Lantern creates a humungous spiked force bubble around him that sends Rogue and Superman flying. The two of them land nearby.

Spider-Man: I see your point.

Superman: This is getting too far out of control. Whether he realizes it or not, the Lantern is practically a god with that ring of his, there’s only so much we can do to try and contain him.

Batman: All you’ll have to do is distract him for as long as possible. Spider-Man and I are going to see what we can do to remove the symbiote. Valeria, go back to your lab and get as much heat and sonic based weaponry as possible. I doubt they’ll be able to separate the two of them, but you’ll do better than we have been so far using Carnage’s weaknesses against him.

Marvel Girl: I’ll be back before you can blink.
She darts off.

Superman: Iceman, Rogue, we’re going back in.

Iceman: Oh boy…

Rogue: I shoulda been more grateful he was on our side.

They fly off and begin to battle Carnage-Lantern once again. Spidey and Batman take off in another direction. They swing for a while on the outskirts of the evacuated area.

Batman: There!

He points to the wide ledge of a nearby building.

Spider-Man: I don’t see anything.

Batman: Neither do I, yet.
Spider-Man: Then how do you know?

Batman: It’s probably where I’d be if I wanted to watch without being seen. Plus it’s an office building that’s just outside the area of evacuation. It’s full of people he could use as hostages if necessary.

Spider-Man: Wonderful.

Batman: I’ll meet you there. Be careful, Scarecrow’s highly resourceful.

Spider-Man: Someone should have told Kyle.

He webs up onto the building and looks around for a little while. He spies the Scarecrow from behind.
Looks like Bat’s was right.

He swings down and Kicks him from behind but it ends up just being a Dummy coat and Hat with straw. The real Scarecrow slashes at him from behind with his sickle. Spider-Man dodges the swipe with his spider-sense, Scarecrow swipes several more times and Spidey dodges each one.

Scarecrow: Don’t you have bigger problems to worry about?

Spider-Man breaks the Sickle in two and grabs the Scarecrow by the collar.

Spider-Man: There had better be an anti toxin for that stuff! Or thousands of people could die!

Scarecrow: Why stop at thousands??? Imagine a whole world cowering in absolute terror of him!

Spider-Man throws him against the wall.

This isn’t getting you anywhere, little Spider. I have no idea what happened to Green Lantern. Personally I wanted to see him at my feet whimpering like a child, but I can’t say I’m disappointed with the havoc he’s created.

Spider-Man: Look, we can do this the painful way, or I can skip the 15 seconds it’ll take to beat the living daylights out of you and you can come along nicely.
Scarecrow pulls his remote control from out of his coat.

Scarecrow: I don’t think you’re in any position to negotiate, Spider-man. This building is full of blue collar fools trying in vain to hide from the chaos outside like insects under a rock trying to escape a hurricane. I press this button and my fear toxin invades every all and corridor driving their minds over the precipice of sanity and reason! Imagine them biting and clawing, desperately seeking any way out, not caring who they harm in order to--

Batman: Sorry to disappoint you.

Batman is standing behind him holding two large gas canisters of fear toxin.

Scarecrow: Batman!
Batman: You’re becoming predictable, Crane. Cooperate with us and maybe we’ll go easy on you.

A scream is heard from within the building. The three of them look towards a window. Cletus Kassidy emerges with a bloody knife.

Kassidy: There you are, Wall Crawler!!! You’re Justice pal stole MY symbiote!!! I want it back and now! Or I do in Batsy here--AAAGH!

During above Kassidy jumps towards Batman puts his knife around his neck and tries to pin Batman’s hands behind his back, but Batman breaks free and twists the wrist that holds the knife barely acknowledging Kassidy’s presence.

Batman: I not asking twice, Scarecrow.

Kassidy is on the ground holding his wrist.
Kassidy: Ow! Ow! Ow! I’m going to dance in your blood, Bat-Face!!!

Kassidy grabs his knife gets back up and kicks Batman in the back. The two of them begin to fight. Scarecrow jumps into the building and Spidey gives chase.

The Scene Cuts back to Superman, Iceman, and Rogue battling Carnage-Lantern. Carnage Lantern has surrounded himself with hundreds of demon constructs. Superman quietly instructs the other two.

Superman: Concentrate on drawing the attention of the constructs. I’ll see if I can get to Green Lantern!
Rogue and Iceman Begin to battle the constructs, mostly hitting and running. Superman Zips off in another direction. Carnage-Lantern pours on the power on them and they get knocked away. He gives a psychotic laugh. Superman charges Carnage-Lantern from behind at super speed. Carnage-Lantern is issued a serious blow and falters a bit, but recovers very quickly and ensnares Superman in green symbiote tentacles.

Superman: Kyle, you have to stop this!!!

Carnage-Lantern: Kyle’s unavailable, Supey!!! Now there is only death, chaos, destruction, murder and absolute Carnage!!!

Carnage-Lantern is blasted by a sonic/heat beam. He cries out in pain and falls. Marvel Girl has arrived in the Fantasti-Car.

Marvel Girl: Reinforcements have arrived.

Superman: How did you do that???
She pulls up next to Superman and tosses him a high tech gun. Rogue and Iceman also come.

Marvel Girl: Spidey said that Carnage was weakened by intense heat and high pitched sonics. So I took an extra five minutes and merged the two properties into one weapon. I only had time to make 4 though.

She distributes the Sonic Heat Guns to Rogue and Iceman. Carnage-Lantern rises back up again and smashes the Fantastic Car with a gigantic green knife construct. Marvel Girl dives out, gun in hand, and Superman catches her.

Low intensity setting, people. We don’t want to cause Green Lantern any permanent damage!

Carnage Lantern is retching under the power of the beams, he is smashed into the side of a building and pinned there.

Superman: Nice work, Marvel Girl. He’s neutralized.

Marvel Girl: We’ve still got one problem though…

Superman: Kyle. We have to get the Symbiote off of him.
Marvel Girl: Batman and Spidey think it has something to do with the Scarecrow infecting him… but I still have to try and help him.

Superman: No. The last time you entered his mind--

Marvel Girl: This time you’ll all be weakening the Carnage part of his psyche from the outside. That should make Kyle’s mind more accessible…

Marvel Girl Pries her way out of Superman’s grip and dives onto a rooftop.

Marvel Girl: …in theory… Hope this works…

She probes his mind.

Superman: Valeria, wait!

Superman’s voice fades as the scene changes again to Kyle Rayner’s psyche. Everything is black as before. Valeria looks around. She sees a doorway and enters it. She’s now in a classroom and a 10 year old Kyle Rayner is sitting at a desk with a sketch pad and pen scribbling madly and constantly tearing pages up and tossing them over his shoulder. There’s a very large pile of crumpled paper balls behind him.

Marvel Girl: Kyle?

Young Kyle: I can’t do it anymore!
Marvel Girl: Do what?
Young Kyle: I just can’t OK!
He gives a loud frustrated groan and hurls the sketch pad at the wall. Then collapses into his arms and starts to cry. Valeria picks up the notebook and flips through it. There are several child-quality drawings of Green Lantern getting killed by various Green Lantern villains.

Marvel Girl: Kyle snap out of this, you’re suffering from a chemically induced fear rush. And even if Batman and Spiderman can find an antidote you still can’t get over this unless you try.

Young Kyle: Leave me alone!
Marvel Girl: Ok… new approach… what’s wrong?
Young Kyle: Everything!
Marvel Girl: Um… maybe we should start with the problem that’s bugging you the most.

Young Kyle: I’m afraid.

Marvel Girl: Yeah, that we know. What are you afraid of?
Young Kyle: Everything… but especially him!

He points behind Valeria. She spins around to look and suddenly finds herself and Young Kyle standing on an invisible platform in deep space watching Green Lantern.

Marvel Girl: You’re afraid of yourself? Something you’re going to do? Something that could happen to you?

Young Kyle: I’m going to let someone down… I don’t deserve that.

Marvel Girl: You don’t deserve to let someone down?
Young Kyle gets frustrated.

Young Kyle: No! That!

He points to a new direction and we see a giant Green Lantern (The lantern shaped recharger not the person.)

Marvel Girl: The power of the Green Lantern? What makes you think you don’t deserve that?

Young Kyle: I’ll show you why.

There are several rapid flashbacks to the Superman: TAS episode “In Brightest Day” that briefly show Kyle’s origin.

It was all just dumb luck… there’s gotta be better people out there… people that aren’t me.

During above various images of Green Lantern being killed flash behind Young Kyle.

Cuts back to reality. The others are still blasting Carnage-Lantern with their guns.

Superman: Iceman check on Marvel Girl.

Iceman takes a breather from shooting his beam and goes down to check on Marvel Girl. He waves his hand in from of her eyes and gets no reaction.

Iceman: She’s out of it, Oh Steel One. There’s no telling what’s going on in there.

Carnage-Lantern is starting to regain some strength with the absence of Iceman’s beam. He fires a giant green energy beam at Superman and Rogue, but they dodge it. The beam flies off into the background.

Cut’s back to Batman and Kassidy fighting on the ledge. The Green Energy Beam hit’s the building. Kassidy and Batman are knocked off their feet. Inside the building the power goes out. Spiderman is chasing scarecrow down a corridor that goes pitch black. He rounds a corner. Scarecrow is no-where to be seen.

Scarecrow: Afraid of the dark, hero?

Scarecrow’s voice is echoing heavily and Spiderman can’t seem to find him.

Or maybe you’re afraid of something else??? I’d really like to know.

Spider-man: Well I’d really like the antidote for whatever sick goop you nailed GL with, so how about a trade.

Scarecrow: Don’t want to talk about it, huh?

Spider-man: By the time I’m through with you, you’ll be an arachnophobe for life, Crane.

Scarecrow laughs.

Scarecrow: Me afraid of you???
Scarecrow emerges from the shadows behind Spider-man with his gas gun ready to fire his voice is still echoing.

Quite an imagination you have there.

Spider-Man spin kicks around Knocking Scarecrow unconscious and webs the gas gun to his hand.

Spider-Man: Game over, straw man.
Cuts back to the ledge.

Batman has Kassidy on the ropes.
Kassidy: You’re good, Batsy…

Kassidy is panting and holding his side.

Batman: Surrender now. I’m warning you I don’t have time for games.

Kassidy: OK, Batman, you win…

Giggling.

I’ll go!
He leaps off of the ledge and plummets to the ground feet first laughing all the way.

Batman dives down after him and catches him, shooting a grappling hook up as he falls that latches onto a stone gargoyle. They swing towards another ledge but halfway Kassidy stabs Batman in the back. Batman Cries out but still has a grip on Kassidy and the grapple.

Kassidy: You good guys and your rules!!! You would make yourself vulnerable to me just to keep me from dying!!!

He slashes Batman’s arm and Batman loses his grip. The two of them begin to plummet.

C’mon, embrace it!!! Why in Satan’s name do you all have such a problem with Death!?

Spidey swings in and grabs Batman and Kassidy. The impact knocks the wind out of Kassidy and he drops his knife. Spider-Man lowers all of them to the ground. Spidey webs up Kassidy and throws him next to an already captured Scarecrow.

Spider-Man: Are you alright?

Batman: I’ll live… I don’t think he hit any organs.

Spider-Man: I found this in Scarecrow’s coat.

Holds up a green vile.

It was the only one that wasn’t labeled.
Batman has begin to bandage his arm with the first aid kit from his utility belt.

Batman: That has to be anti-toxin. Scarecrow’s too smart not to have some.

Batman hands him a syringe gun from the medic pack. Spiderman begins to load the anti-toxin.

Go. I’ll take care of these two.

Spider-Man: No, he’s coming with me.

Spider-Man grabs Kassidy and swings away.

Back at the battle against Carnage-Lantern, Iceman Rogue and Superman are straining to keep him under control.

Superman: The guns are loosing their effectiveness!
Rogue: The ring’s startin’ to protect him. Pretty soon there won’t be much of anything we can do.

Spider-Man arrives.

Spider-Man: Keep it up guys, it’s almost over.

Rogue: An we’re not cuttin’ it nearly as close as usual. Good job webs!
Spider-Man: Don’t break out the champaign just yet. This stuff still has to work.

He places the webbed up Kassidy on the building top with Marvel Girl and then jumps over to where Carnage Lantern is pinned by the beams. He crawls along side holding a web shield in one hand to protect him from the backlash of the heat and grabs Carnage-Lantern’s wrist injecting it with the anti-toxin.

Rogue: Why ain’t it working?
Spider-Man: It probably has to work its way through the blood stream.

Ice-Man: Uh… We don’t have time for that.
Carnage-Lantern has begun to push back the sonic/heat beams with his ring and is rapidly recovering strength.

Batman beeps in over the intercom.

Batman: <No. The reason it hasn’t taken effect yet is because, like any psychiatric treatment, the medicine is only half the job. The chemicals are restoring his brain to its normal state, but the rest is up to his will power. He has to get over his fears on his own.

Superman: Maybe not completely on his own.

Looks at Marvel Girl who is still in a psychic trance.

Cuts back to Kyle’s psyche. The Carnage symbiote has erupted from beneath Marvel Girl and Young Kyle shattering the image of space and returning to the darkness that was before. The Symbiote is laughing maniacally. It is wearing Green Lantern’s ring.

Carnage Symbiote: That’s right kid!!! You’re not fit to wield that kind of power!!! That’s why I’m taking all of it!!!

The symbiote begins to swirl around Young Kyle

Marvel Girl: You’re forgetting all the selfless things you’ve ever done, Kyle!

Carnage Symbiote: He’s not listening to you!

Marvel Girl: I’ll do whatever it takes to convince you! I’ll reach deep into the depth of your soul and show you everything that makes you great! Everything that makes you worthy of your name!

Marvel Girl glows with cosmic energy and images of Green Lantern committing good deeds, saving lives, defeating evil villains, saving planets, etc.

Carnage Symbiote: Stop!

Marvel Girl: This is who you are, Kyle Rayner. You’re one of the greatest heroes in the universe!

Young Kyle looks intently at the scenes around him.

Carnage Symbiote: You don’t belong here!
Young Kyle: Neither do you!

The ring disappears off of the Symbiote’s finger and reappears on Young Kyle’s.

In Brightest Day! In Blackest Night!

Carnage Symbiote: NOOOO!

Kyle is still young but is now speaking with his adult voice.

Kyle: No evil will escape my sight!
Marvel Girl smiles and the Symbiote begins to wretch in agony as the green energy flowing from Kyle shocks it. Kyle is now an adult

Kyle: Let those who worship evils Might!

Kyle is now Green Lantern.
Green Lantern: Beware my power!!! Green Lantern’s Light!!!!

Cuts back to reality on “Green Lantern’s Light”. The Symbiote is blown off of Green Lantern by a massive green energy wave. Marvel Girl wakes up. Green Lantern looks around at the destruction he caused and closes his eyes in shame.

Green Lantern: …I did this?

Superman: …not you, Carnage.

Spider-Man: You can’t blame yourself for what he did. Buildings can be rebuilt.

Green Lantern: Nobody was killed?
Spider-Man: Not by you.
Green Lantern: …It doesn’t matter… this power is mine… and I’m responsible for it.

Spider-Man is speechless.

Meanwhile on the roof the symbiote creeps up onto the imprisoned Kassidy.

Carnage breaks out of the webbing and jumps towards Marvel Girl with two axes for hands, but Is trapped in a Green Force Bubble.

Spider-Man: We’ll let the authorities take care of him, Kyle.
Green Lantern: I am the authorities. And I can’t let him escape again.

Superman: Lantern.

Green Lantern: No. What happened today can happen again. This creature is too dangerous to be left on an Earth prison. I’m making up for this one step at a time… starting with him.

Green Lantern takes Carnage up out of Earth’s atmosphere and disappears in the distance of space.

Marvel Girl: Where are they--

Superman: Green Lantern’s an interstellar police officer… my guess is that Carnage is going to an interstellar prison.

Spider-Man: He pushed the limit today… the whole city could have been leveled.

Rogue: But it wasn’t.

Spider-Man: Still… I’ll rest better knowing he’s not on Earth anymore.

Iceman: You think GL’ll be ok?
Marvel Girl: From what I saw, he broke down a barrier today. Still this won’t be easy to get over.

Superman: He has us to help him. That’s all that matters for now

Scene: Much later. An intergalactic Prison. Carnage is sitting behind a stasis field rocking back and forth.

Carnage: Help me! Help me! …must kill! …can’t leave.

Shouting extremely loud.

Let me out!!!!!
Two guards hear him.
Guard one: What’s he shouting about now? Honestly.

Guard two: Maybe you should cut him some slack… an eternity in here with no hope of escape, no outside contact, and no chance of death would probably scare the horns off my head too.

Carnage: NOOOOO!!!!

Pans away from the prison and we hear Carnage’s final scream as it the prison grows smaller in the void of space.

END
